Facilitator: Lisa Engelsman

Description:

One tool for learning about a new culture is ethnography. This session defines ethnography and briefly discusses the differences between participant and non-participant observation. Since sometimes the best way to learn something is by doing it, this session will focus on actually practicing observation.

Objectives:

1. To define ethnography.
2. To describe the difference between participant and non-participant observation and state how it relates to observation.
3. To practice non-participant observation.
