Re: 4/26/11 Memo - New Leadership Couples Orientation (NLCO)
The New Leadership Couples Orientation in Budapest is coming up very quickly! Please take note of the following information:
- Unexpected change in plans? In the event of circumstances that would cause a significant delay in your arrival at the Walzer Hotel, please contact Ken Guenther if possible. [International phone #: +3725-761-1936; email address: ] Note that Ken will have a copy of your travel plans as attached, so he will be monitoring that as well.
- Airport to hotel transportation: If you are flying into the Budapest Airport, please plan to take a taxi from the airport to the Walzer Hotel.
- To get a taxi, go to the taxi stand window that is located directly outside the airport doors. You may pay for the taxi with cash or credit. If you wish to pay with cash, you can obtain cash forint inside the airport by either withdrawal or exchange.
- The Walzer Hotel is located in the 3rd region out from the airport. As of now, the rate for that is 5300 Forint or 22 Euro (approx. US$30). The price is the same whatever the number of passengers may be. Also, please note that a 10% tip to taxi drivers is customary. Taxi rates have not gone up for years but the price of gas has gone up, so some drivers are barely making ends meet.
- I am attaching two PDF files with hotel information (one in English, and one in Magyar) that you may want to have available in case your taxi driver has any uncertainty about your destination. The trip from the airport to the hotel will take approximately 45-60 minutes.
- Hotel Walzer contact information:
- Address: H-1124 Budapest, Németvölgyi út 110
- Phone: +361 319 1212
- If arriving by car: Hotel parking is available free of charge to guests.
- Check-in time: 2:00 p.m.
- Miscellaneous hotel information:
- Check-out time is generally 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on the day of your departure. (It may be permitted as late as 2 p.m. if no one else is coming into your room that day. If you are interested in that option, check with the hotel while you are there.) There is a secure place to store luggage for those who must vacate their rooms before the training is completed.
- If you will be missing a meal because of the time of your airport departure, the hotel can provide a sacked dinner to carry away at the regular dinner price. Check with the hotel staff about how much advance notice they require if you would like to do that.
- The hotel website contains lots of information – and photos of guest rooms, sauna, and the workout room! – so check that out if you have not already done so (http://www.walzerhotel.hu/).
- Dress Code: Casual dress (including jeans) is in order and is acceptable at the hotel and restaurants, although you may wish to bring something a bit dressier for the Friday evening date night. Only the very nicest of restaurants would expect more than casual attire, though. Bring appropriate clothing if you plan to use the hotel’s sauna and/or workout room.
- Money Matters:
- Everyone will likely want to have some cash available for things like fun shopping when you’re downtown in the evenings. ATMs are plentiful and there are many exchange places where you can trade in dollars or Euros.
- You probably noticed on the schedule that there are three evening meals when you will not be eating at the hotel. It is anticipated that two of the meals will be at moderately-priced restaurants and the third meal at a mall food court. Please note : we are asking each couple to put the cost of those meals (and customary 10% restaurant tips) on your personal credit cards. Please save the receipts to submit to the I.O. for reimbursement up to a total amount of $100 (USD) per couple.
- And last, but not least . . . please bring your laptop computer!! Ken asks that each couple bring a computer to access training documents, since paper handouts will not be available for most sessions. (Handouts will be distributed at the separate women’s sessions, so there is no need to bring two computers per couple.)
Please let me know if you have questions about these or other logistical matters.
In Him,
Kathy
